Explanar Golf

Palaceriggs in Cumbernauld, Scotland have been investing heavily in the past 18 months in junior golf development. They have been working with North Lanarkshire Council to seek coaching advice and supporting equipment. Palaceriggs utilise the Explanar Junior System for the kids up to around 9 or 10 years of age and the Explanar Teaching System for the youth or teenagers. For more information go to Explanar

Haggs Castle win Millenium Trophy

The Millenium trophy has been won by Haggs Castle B team with a score of 139. The competition took place on Monday 3rd of August at Haggs Castle, and the winning team members were Aidan Husenne and Mark Hunter. Aidan had the best gross score of 65, and the best net score came from Matthew McFarlane of Pollok with a 70.

Eastwood win the David Tait/Finlay Morris Trophy

Eastwood have yet another trophy to add to their cabinet as they took the David Tait/Finlay Morris Trophy played at Whitecraigs Golf Club on 29th July. The winning team comprised of Gordon Adams, Nathan Donnelly, Scott Ross,Ryan Connell, Fraser Grossart and Scott Campbell had a winning total of 154 points. Runners up were Cathkin Braes on 143 points.

Eastwood win Scott Ramsay trophy

Eastwood Golf Club have won the Scott Ramsay trophy. The competition was held on Monday 13th July at Fereneze Golf Club.
Ryan Connell of Eastwood had the best net score of 62 and Adam Anderson of Haggs Castle had the best scratch score of 79.

More success for Cathkin Braes

Following on the success of their senior team Brand Putter League win this season, the boys of Cathkin have brought another trophy to the club.
Playing at Eastwood on Sunday afternoon in the final of the Tom Kelly they beat Cowglen by 1 up to claim the trophy.

Tom Kelly trophy update

The semi finals and then final will take place this Sunday at Eastwood Golf Club. The line up is – Cowglen v Pollok and East Renfrewshire v Cathkin Braes. Williamwood are the champions

Congratulations to Williamwood Golf club and their team on winning this year’s Fleming Watson League trophy. They confirmed the win with an away victory against East Renfrewshire with a spare game in hand. Williamwood last won the trophy in 1987 , so there has been a long 22 year wait to bring the trophy back to the club. The runners-up this year are Cathcart Castle who lead the league for a number of weeks before being finally overtaken. The bottom team in the league is Cowglen.

We now look forward to the indiviual competitions starting with the Tom Kelly trophy.

Cathkin Braes v Cowglen

Match played on 29th June -

Cathkin Braes finished their league season with a good win over visitors Cowglen. The match was played in warm
sunshine and there were good individual results from Daniel Chapman, Marc McGuire and Adam Huntley.
Final score Cathkin Braes 5  Cowglen 1.

Fereneze v Haggs Castle

On a fine night for golf, our first this season, Fereneze and Haggs fought out a fair draw.
The top two games were halved with the overall result see sawing until the final game.
